Custom Website

A site built around your business, not a template

Templates force your business into someone else's structure. A custom build starts from what you actually sell, who buys it, and what they need to see before they act — then makes that fast and findable.

What you get

The parts of the job that decide whether it works.

Design from scratch

A visual identity and layout system built for your content, not adapted from a demo site that sold something else.

Fast by construction

No page builder overhead. Optimised images, minimal JavaScript, and Core Web Vitals treated as a requirement.

SEO built in

Clean URL structure, per-page metadata, schema and a sitemap from day one — not retrofitted after launch.

Content you can edit

A CMS configured around your actual content types, so updating a page does not require a developer.

Accessible by default

Keyboard navigation, visible focus, real contrast ratios and semantic structure throughout.

You own everything

Your code, your hosting, your domain, your analytics. No proprietary lock-in and no licence that expires.

How it works

Four stages, no surprises about what happens when.

  1. 1

    Discovery

What the site needs to achieve, who it speaks to, and which pages actually carry the business.

  2. 2

    Design

Wireframes then visual design, reviewed on real devices before a line of production code is written.

  3. 3

    Build

Semantic, accessible markup with the CMS wired to your content model and SEO handled as part of the build.

  4. 4

    Launch & support

Redirect mapping from the old site, analytics verification, and a support window after go-live.

Questions people actually ask

Custom build or WordPress?

WordPress is the right answer when you need a large, frequently edited content site and a familiar admin. A custom build wins when performance matters, the content model is unusual, or you want no plugin dependencies.

What does a custom site cost?

It scales with page count and how much of the design is bespoke. A focused brochure site sits well below a content-heavy site with a custom CMS model — I quote against a fixed scope after discovery.

Can you migrate our existing content?

Yes, including a redirect map from old URLs to new. Migrations are where most sites quietly lose their organic traffic, so this is treated as part of the build rather than an afterthought.

What happens after launch?

A support window is included for fixes. Beyond that I offer ongoing care, or I hand over documentation so your team can take it from there.

What it costs

Three starting points — Launch, Growth and Scale — with the scope tailored in discovery. The full breakdown sits on the services page.
